Our Contemplative Community Presiding Bishop of CCSFT Timothy Connelly of Wilmington, NC Prior of CCSFT Bishop William Conner of Dallas, TX Events/Planning Director Monsgr. Mary Janessa Howard of Butler, PA Our Patron Saints: Our patron saints are St. Francis of Assissi, who focused his entire life around devotion to God & St. Thérèse of Lisieux, who taught that all aspects of Christianity are forged in Love alone. The United Fellowship of Contemplative Christians is open to both men and women, Lay and Religious, age 18 and older. We are seekers, students, and teachers of Prayer. Our Community is Interfaith and open to anyone of Goodwill who wishes to devote their life to Christ and join us in a life of prayer. |
Liturgy of the
Hours The Divine Office (Liturgy of the Hours) is the official prayer of the ancient Church. Immersion into prayer, chant, devotion, and service paves our path to God. Largely based around the Psalms, which were written by King David, certain hours of the day were made holy by prayer. Paul of Tarsus prayed the holy hours. St. Peter sang them. St. Francis meditated on them. St. Thérèse chanted them in her Carmelite Convent. Saint Teresa of Calcutta began her prayers by 5 a.m. The prayers of the Psalms even inspired our Lord Jesus! No other prayer places you in the same kind of company! |
Biblical
Counseling/Life Coaching We work with clients of all denominations to help them through their spiritual problems. Through compassionate listening, we are able to get beyond judging and help solve problems as diverse as marriage, faith, dependency and addiction in complete confidentiality. We emphasize the development of discipline and the importance of personal responsibility. By working with biblical principles, we are able to point towards a consistent method of behavior that reaches directly into the teachings of Christ. Working with a Priest seems to bring a stronger attitude of "I can do this" into the attitude of many of our clients. With fees as low as $55 per session, finances are a smaller element in the process. We begin with a free session to help us determine if we are a good fit and to insure that our style/method will work with a particular client. With Life Coaching- a more hands on style- we are able to work effectively with many different sets of problems. |
Catholic but not Roman
Catholic Our clergy trace their authority back to Jesus Himself, in unity with the Apostles, Martyrs, Fathers, and Saints of the ancient, holy, undivided Catholic ("universal") Church. Our fellowship's roots come from the division of 1870 that mostly stemmed from a disagreement over papal infallibility. We are in brotherhood with the Old Catholic movement and also with the Anglican Communion. However, we strongly emphasize the unimportance of organizations and even beliefs- that devotion to God is more important than our areas of disagreement We allow female ordination, & view priestly celibacy as a matter of choice. We accept all morally connected people, regardless of who they love. We believe in an open Holy Communion that welcomes anyone feeling called, including those who have remarried or are of different faiths. We believe in the Seven Sacraments given by Christ. We are Christ-centered and Love-based, holding both Sacred Tradition and Sacred Scripture as inspired. We uphold the Eucharist as the Real Presence of Christ for those who believe it to be, and believe those who feel it to be an important memorial are equally correct. We gladly welcome Roman Catholics, Lutherans, Anglicans, Episcopalians, Presbyterians, Methodists and all other Christians who wish to join us in daily prayer. |
